All Marketplace plans cover essential health benefits, pre-existing conditions, and preventive care. This is true for all plan categories (all “metal levels,” including Catastrophic plans) and all plan types (like HMO and PPO). Starting on November 1, 2019, you can enroll in or renew a plan for 2020, so you can continue to get these benefits.

Not withstanding changes to the Affordable Healthcare Act, open enrollment for 2020 is happening. During open enrollment, you can enroll in a healthcare plan via the Affordable Healthcare Act as in past years. 2020 Open Enrollment Period runs from November 1, 2019 to December 15, 2019.

New Hampshire residents who get health insurance through the ACA will see a modest decrease in monthly premiums in 2020 under proposed rates. The New Hampshire Insurance Department says the proposed average premium for a benchmark individual plan in 2020 would be $440, or 2.5 % lower than 2019.

A new program for low-income Granite Staters to get health insurance coverage at little or no cost.

In 2014, changes in state law created the New Hampshire Health Protection Program (NHHPP), a Medicaid-funded health care program that expands coverage to low-income New Hampshire residents. The NH Health Protection Program allows many low-income Granite Staters to enroll in a health insurance plan at little or no cost.

As of January 1, 2019, the Granite Advantage Health Care Program replaced the NHHPP. Learn more about this program.
